Dharma is the philosophy that everyone comes here with a unique soul purpose. This is often found through hardship. Experiencing tough life lessons and then transforming them into purposeful work. Toxic habitual patterns, limiting beliefs, stagnant energy, fear and insecurities prevent us from living our best life. Living our dharma is breaking through these challenges, distilling the message of how we did that and what we learned, then sharing it with others to help them heal and thrive. 

I feel that my personal dharma is to help couples, parents and children cultivate healthy relationships, connected families and peaceful homes.  For the first 25 years of my life, when it came to relationships, communication, conflict and emotions, I experienced a lot of trauma and learned to operate from an unconscious, reactive place. I perpetually played out my limiting beliefs. I know that pain and suffering firsthand, and I know how to transform it into more authentic safety, trust and connection. It brings me joy to share this medicine with you.

I was raised by two parents who genuinely loved my sister and I but who had not themselves learned tools and practices to consciously parent. Our household was violent and dysfunctional. As a highly sensitive child in this environment, I had a challenging time. I repressed my feelings, sometimes avoided communication and conflict and other times instigated it, didn't know what boundaries or needs were and was not equipped to relate with others in a centered way. I experienced intense feelings across the spectrum. Most notably, anger and frustration. I teetered between anxious people pleasing and angry, reactive defensiveness as coping mechanisms. 

As I transitioned to young adulthood, living on my own in college and forming intimate relationships with friends and my romantic partner, I noticed how these patterns continued and negatively affected my ability to be fully seen, heard, felt and understood – and to fully see, hear, feel and understand others. Fears and insecurities crept into my mind. Narrow perspectives limited my beliefs. Assumptions triggered my defensiveness. My pain blinded me and separated me from wholeness. 

I realized I was the common denominator in my relationships and sought solutions to avoid the pain of continually running on a hamster wheel, relating in the same way and inevitably getting the same results. I wanted to have balanced satisfying relationships, to feel joy, to boost my confidence. I wanted my friends, family and lovers to feel I was approachable and willing to move through difficult conversations. I wanted to face my fears. To be more honest and for others to be more honest with me. I wanted to be ME rather than be who I thought everyone wanted me to be. Who was I? Who am I? Who am I becoming?

My conscious awakening was catalyzed by heartbreak. What an eye opening experience to have my partner leave. To feel the depths of that shock and despair completely. And then to realize leaving was truly the most loving thing he could do. To set boundaries and model choosing self love and respect. 

I ultimately sat with my shame, got to know myself, transmuted the pain and healed whole. The process took years and many more potent lessons along the way. A later rollercoaster relationship with toxic narcissist-meets-enabling-empath dynamics and inevitable second breakup years down the road catalyzed my clarity of mind and my realization that I had been using mind altering substances like alcohol and food to numb my anxiety, insecurities and repress my emotions. After that experience, I doubled down on counseling,  group therapy, studying human psychology, and entering the world of personal development and spirituality. 

I now understand that hurt people hurt people, and healed people heal people. Families continue to perpetuate the same traumas until someone in the lineage wakes up to what’s happening and chooses to end the pattern and actually heal for real. I am grateful to now be a parent myself and realize how challenging and nuanced parenthood is. I have a deeper level of compassion and acceptance of my parents and my childhood experience. I am devoted to doing better for my own family, but I have let go of most of the hurt I was holding onto. And in doing so, I am able to enjoy a deeper relationship with my mom and my dad as the people they are right now in real time, rather than who I was holding onto them being in my past. 

Now it is my great honor to help others to identify toxic cycles, heal the root cause of them, rewire the mind to support healthy habits that actually serve, and cultivate satisfying relationships that lead to more love, more connection, more abundance and more ease.

For the past 5 years, I lived in a remote jungle village of Costa Rica, learning how to live more simply and harmoniously with the rhythms of nature. I did a lot of personal healing, and when I felt more whole, I envisioned my ideal partner, prayed for him, and soon after met and quickly rose in love with my soulmate Aylon. 

We dated while living completely off the grid, and then together moved into a dreamy earthen dome home where we lived for several years as we became a family. We had a wild pregnancy, an even wilder home birth, and nested in our cocoon for the better part of seven months before traveling to introduce our baby to family around the world. Relationships, Birth and Motherhood have absolutely awakened me into my purpose.

In my previous chapter, I spent over a decade as a wedding planner, intimately guiding couples as we planned their big celebration. I saw so many focusing on the details of party planning, but I craved to help couples thrive in their relationship and prepare for the marriage ahead whilst we planned their wedding. So I became a communication expert, a conflict resolution mediator and a relationship coach and incorporated these skills holistically into our work together.

Today I am proud to be living out what once was a distant dream, and really something I used to not believe was possible for me. I have a wonderful partner who obviously was a gift from God. I was seeking the best possible father for my children and he has proven to be precisely that. We ride the ebbs and flows of life together, and are able to communicate clearly, effectively and with compassion through it all. Our home life is serene. Our priorities are straight. Our ethics line up. We make time to clarify our needs and desires, and change direction as we see fit. Our child is being soaked in a marinade of love, appreciation, and wholesome values. It’s heartwarming. And you can have it too.

My mission is to support couples and parents to create healthy relationships, connected families and peaceful homes. I envision a reality where couples commit to nurturing an overflowing cup for themselves and their relationship, learn to express themselves openly, and choose to move through relational rites of passage like engagement, weddings, anniversaries, pregnancy and birth with presence, intention and sacredness. I envision a near future where all children get to live in a healthy balanced home with two loving parents role-modeling sacred union for them, and a village of support backing the parents.
